Inspiration

My inspiration for this particular Game Lens came from a Movie that I was watching, where a city got infected by zombies.

What it does

It is a Virtual AR Game Lens where users get to play a mission of killing all the zombies in the city before they reach you. If users FAIL to kill the zombies, they get attacked and Game gets over. Once all the zombies are killed the game doesn't gets completed here, one zombie is still alive and is hiding somewhere in the city, Users have to search for that zombie, Users can find hints in the city that will lead them to the last zombie.

How we built it

I built this lens on the Lens Studio Software for PC. I started of with an amazing template available on the software called "Look Around". I then made a map of the city in 3D space, All the components of city like the road, building, trees, grass, Streetlight and everything in the city map was downloaded from the resources tab by importing it from the Asset Library. Then I Imported my Zombie Model and the weapon used (Bow And Arrow) in the project. After everything was imported with a help of tween manager I scripted the whole Game. Zombies movement towards the Camera, the way arrow shoots after tapping, zombies falling after arrow hits them and everything like apples falling from tree if arrow hits the trees, grass moving as arrow goes through them, Even the Intro of Game was created using tween scripts that was applied to the camera object. All this was possible with the help of Tween Manager and a lot of Behaviour Scripts. I used colliders and physics system to make grass movement when arrow hits, I also used VFX to make my Lens become a Great AR experience overall, like the clouds in Sky and Confetti After you win And many more.

Challenges we ran into

One challenge I faced while making this lens was that, at start I was building a lens where users can freely move in the city and hunt down the zombies, but after testing that particular lens, I found that it will only work if users are in a open space with no wall around them, But I thought this would not be possible for many as we love experiencing the Lenses at our home. So I dropped that plan and made users Experience to be static with only rotation possible.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am very proud to make this one of kind Virtual Gaming experience possible on the snapchat App. I haven't seen something like this before and would love to see creators making more such AR gaming experiences possible. Overall my project came out to be much better than I thought.

What we learned

I would say that Lens Studio is the best platform to create Amazing AR experiences like Games and AR filters. It has got all the necessary tools to create AR games, Creators Don't need a lot of coding knowledge in order to make this possible. Whatever you Dream can be easily Built on Lens Studio.

What's next for Zombie Hunter AR

I have thought of taking this Game to next level by adding Difficulty Level Selection in my game after the intro screen ( Beginner, Intermediate and Expert ), Each level will have different missions, the number of zombies and their speed will vary accordingly.
