Inspiration

This project was inspired by the classic Halloween atmosphere — eerie lights, creeping fog, and mysterious alleyways — with a nostalgic twist reminiscent of iconic 80s-themed series like Stranger Things. The idea was to blend suspense, horror, and humor through the lens of a pug's nightmare, creating a fun and emotionally dynamic short film entirely powered by AI tools.

What it does

It tells the story of a brave little pug and a young woman caught in a spooky Halloween night — where reality blends with dreams, and danger is never too far.

How we built it

The entire story was created and executed using generative AI:

Visuals: Every frame was written, structured, and visually directed with cinematic prompts, then generated using image-to-image and image-to-video AI models.

Voice and Sound: All voice expressions, sound effects, and subtle audio cues were crafted manually using ElevenLabs, to ensure tonal accuracy and emotional sync with the scenes.

Storytelling: The narrative was co-developed with a creative assistant (ChatGPT), combining consistent visual descriptions, character continuity, and scene-by-scene progression — maintaining cohesion in emotion, pacing, and lighting.

Direction: Every take was treated like a real cinematic moment — with direction for camera angles, light source, emotional expression, and even post-processing logic (e.g., dream balloon overlay in cartoon style for comedic effect).

Challenges we ran into

Achieving visual consistency for characters across all frames, especially during action sequences or emotional close-ups.

Ensuring sound design was both expressive and seamless — since all audio reactions were crafted manually via voice AI rather than stock libraries.

Maintaining cohesion and timing in a narrative made with multiple AI systems that don’t communicate natively — requiring detailed planning and creative stitching.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We successfully created a complete short film from scratch using only AI tools — from visual storytelling to voice acting and sound effects.

The result is a visually striking, emotionally fun, and fast-paced Halloween short with a cinematic vibe that resonates with classic horror nostalgia.

We managed to maintain character and lighting consistency across more than 20 animated takes, which is a significant technical achievement given the current AI limitations.

It’s also a project that makes people laugh, feel, and get inspired — and that’s what storytelling is all about.
