Overview
Ordering food online has become increasingly common nowadays. With people from all age groups ordering from various online platforms, there are certain features in these apps that tend to intimidate users leading to frustration and thus end up ordering with an unsatisfactory mind. This project aims at making a few tweaks in the UI of one such app , Zomato, while adding a few useful features that can help the app in becoming more accessible to the common users.
Problem
Following are some of the problems faced by the average user:
- Clustered Home screen
- Endless scrolling for the filters
- Option to choose by cuisine is not quite accessible
- Difficulty in finding appropriate restaurants based on a location
Methodology
The method used for foundational research before creating the prototype was ‘secondary research’. Due to time constraints, it wasn’t feasible to conduct extensive interviews or carry out a survey as a considerable amount of time would be required to receive all responses. Case studies from various renowned websites were referred to for this purpose. This helped me get a general idea of the pain points of users. Furthermore, the mentor guidance proved to be very effective as it added an additional perspective to the problems faced by the user. Following are the links of case studies referred:

The app was already installed on my mobile device which played an essential part in helping me gauge the UI like the spacing, font, colors, etc.
What's Next?
The next step in this project would be to improve the Dining section. The UI of that particular section will be improvised upon. There would also be an option to view a separate Cart page in the app, since there is no specific page where we can view the items in the cart. Addition of additional features to improve the specificity of the app would also be implemented. Most importantly, the app will be tested with a set of users so as to gather more suggestions and valuable feedback.
