Our Inspirational Story

Our journey began in 2020, when my co-founder and I stumbled upon the fascinating world of DeFi and its various offshoots, including the first GameFi and GambleFi protocols. This discovery opened our eyes to the immense possibilities within the blockchain ecosystem, and we couldn't shake off the feeling that we were on the brink of something revolutionary.

The inspiration for our first model came from a seemingly ordinary event that held extraordinary implications. One day, I bought a $5 scratch lottery ticket. To my surprise, it was a winning ticket, but the part revealing the prize amount remained unscratched. Instantly, my friend offered me $50 to buy the winning ticket from me, since the unrevealed prize could be as low as $5 or as high as $100,000. Intrigued by the gamble and seeing a 10x opportunity, I accepted his offer. As fate would have it, the ticket turned out to be a mere $5 winner.

Yet, from that moment, we gained something far more valuable: the foundational idea for Zodiak333.

Inspired by the possibilities of Web3 Gaming we realized there was a glaring gap in the eGaming industry: the need for a secure, transparent, and Web3 native platform that could truly empower gamers. Therefore, we envisioned a platform where gamers could trust the fairness of their games, backed by the indisputable integrity of blockchain technology. By integrating Web3 primitives, such as Chainlink's VRF technology, into our platform we were able to turn this vision into a tangible proof of concept, which we are incredibly proud of.

We didn't want to stop there.

Inspired by the celestial powers of the stars and Zodiac Signs, we transformed the old simple lottery tickets into our mystical Zodiak333 Wearable Gems. These Wearables, sold as Trading Card Packs, can either be winners of the lottery or become powerful boosters as in-game assets for characters in our upcoming skill-based ability games, if they turn out to be losing tickets. Users can also trade these tickets as winning tickets with an unknown prize, hoping to capitalize on the speculation surrounding the hidden prize.

As we stepped into this Chainlink Hackathon, our mission was clear: to develop a Web3 native eGaming platform that not only entertains but also empowers gamers with transparency, security, and a touch of Zodiacal Cosmic Wonder.

What it does

Zodiak333 is a Web3 native eGaming platform that merges the excitement of gaming with the transparency and security of blockchain technology. Our platform offers a unique blend of lottery-style games and skill-based ability games, all enhanced with mystical Zodiac-themed elements.

Key features include: Zodiak333 Wearable Gems: Players can purchase trading card packs that contain Zodiak333 Wearables. These wearables can be lottery winners or powerful boosters for in-game characters in our upcoming skill-based games.

Lottery Mechanism: Players can buy tickets with unknown prizes ranging from small amounts to substantial rewards. The thrill lies in the speculation and trading of these tickets within our community, fostering a dynamic and engaging secondary market.

Integration of Chainlink’s VRF Technology: To ensure fairness and transparency, we integrate Chainlink's Verifiable Random Function (VRF) technology. This provides provably fair outcomes in our lottery and game mechanics, ensuring every player has a fair chance.

In-Game Assets: Losing lottery tickets are not just discarded; they transform into valuable in-game assets, enhancing gameplay and offering players more ways to win and enjoy the experience.

Secure and Transparent Gaming: Leveraging the power of blockchain, Zodiak333 ensures all transactions, game outcomes, and asset trades are secure, transparent, and immutable.

By integrating Web3 primitives and Zodiac-themed elements, Zodiak333 will revolutionize the eGaming landscape, offering players a unique, engaging, and fair platform to explore and enjoy.

How we built it

Creating Zodiak333 has been a way to increase our experience and challenge our creativity, technical skills, and collaborative spirit.

Challenges we ran into

G.G. - Project & Team Manager: As the Project and Team Manager, I coordinated the efforts of our team members and kept everyone aligned with our overall vision. Managing the workflow and ensuring effective communication across different time zones was particularly demanding. Additionally, setting realistic milestones while balancing the high expectations we had for Zodiak333 required meticulous planning and constant adjustments. Keeping the team motivated and focused, especially during setbacks, such as losing 3 of our members during the last week, was a challenge that required us to adapt also in unexpected scenarios.

S.D. - Smart Contract Developer: As the Smart Contract Developer, my primary challenge was ensuring the security and robustness of our smart contracts. Integrating Chainlink's VRF technology for provably fair outcomes was technically complex and required a deep understanding of both the technology and its implementation within our model. Ensuring that the smart contracts were not only functional but also optimized for gas efficiency and testing the contracts to prevent vulnerabilities took a considerable amount of time and effort.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

This journey has been filled with unexpected twists, much like that scratch ticket, but it has led us to a place where we can truly make a difference in the eGaming world. And for that, we are both humbled and excited!

What we learned

Throughout this Hackathon, we learned the importance of adaptability and effective communication. Managing a project with so many moving parts taught us to be flexible and open to change while maintaining a clear vision. Working on Zodiak333 deepened our understanding of Chainlink's VRF technology and its application in creating fair gaming experiences.
