Average occupancy of passenger vehicles in Europe is 1.5 persons. This means too many cars in the street causing traffic jams and high CO2 emissions. However, traveling in public transportation or car pooling can be very boring. We decided to tackle both problems at the same time.
What it does
Our platform (ZipYaTrip) connects people who are traveling the same route, it also breaks the barrier between them, so they can interact, get to know each other, and be productive together. ZipYaTrip connects people for travel pooling and provides activities while traveling.
How we built it
After brainstorming about the project idea we split up tasks within the team members. We did some coding, design, and had a lot of fun during the process.
Challenges we ran into
Very little time and limited resources.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We managed to build a team relatively quickly and create a clear vision for our project.
What we learned
We learned that it is very important to structure, plan, and communicate during the entire development process.
What's next for ZipYaTrip
Finishing the technical side of the project, promoting it, and increasing the user base. We will test the platform with more users.
We plan to establish a collaboration with the following companies:
EuropCar, eMio, DB, Lufthansa, BVG
We will bring new customers and access their APIs in exchange
Provide snacks for travel groups
