Inspiration

My inspiration on this is my wife and my 3 kids.

What it does

Zinag is not just a learning app. It guides any individual on their solar setup journey in 4 steps, Learn -> Plan -> Decide -> Improve. And on each step, Zinag is there to assist and provide insights for a data backed decisions.

How we built it

The successful build was done by having a mindset of "Start at the end". I've created a mockup design of the frontend using Next.js so that each features that I want to be included on the app can be tested immediately on my local machine. It was a long process for the design mock up but with the help of Codex CLI, with GPT-5.6 Sol, the implementation of features through build and deployment was smooth. I also used Ponytail and Superpowers skills to help me on generating design and implementation plans throughout the build process.

Challenges we ran into

I initially started the web app by grilling the idea for Zinag with "grill-me" skill. After the grilling, it provided an implementation plan that I can use to implement and build the app. However, I thought this plan must be reviewed and critique by an Architect, Product Strategist and an OpenAI Build Week Judge to make sure that the web app meets the criteria of a winning app. That is why I built a Codex skill called "obw-idea-council". This skill is a multi-agent idea critique. Basically, I've created an AI council thinking that it would produce a strategy and implementation plan that is well scoped and will make a winning web app.

But my judgement was wrong. It produces an implementation plan that was too huge and costs me my free 2500 credits to be consumed without producing anything valuable.

Same with traditional software engineering, all things start on a well designed app. Even if it is just a mockup design. Even if you have a great "idea-council" it still does not know what you want to accomplish unless you provide it a glimpse of a finish product.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

It's a my first time to join a global hackathon and I'm proud that it is the platform where I shared an app that was just an idea, but now it is in its prototype form.

What we learned

  • creating AI skills in Codex is super easy
  • the application of "Start at the end" mindset and proving it with Zinag is very satisfying

What's next for Zinag

Share the journey and make sure that everyone on Earth benefits from it and its story.
