Inspiration
Currently, Community Health Workers (CHWs) in both urban and rural parts of Zimbabwe are using paper to manage patient records. This method is slow and comes with some big problems, like losing data, delays in getting information to clinics, and a hard time keeping track of patient histories. Our project aims to solve these issues by building a practical, digital solution.
What it does
Our goal is to create a reliable and efficient mobile health app that helps CHWs digitize patient records and quickly assess early symptoms. The app will work seamlessly in both urban and rural Zimbabwe, even when it's offline.
How we built it
we built it using flutter, dart, for the frontend and hive for the local storage and firebase for the database
Challenges we ran into
challenges we faced where mainly when trying to make the application offline and also making the app sync the registered patients to the database (firebase)
Accomplishments that we're proud of
we managed to make the the app work offline and the app was able to sync the records to the database
What we learned
consistency is the key you need to keep trying and have patience , also you learn new things with every project
What's next for ZimaHealth Connect Lite
To continue developing the app so that it can use the native languages of the environment its being implemented in and hopefully launch it as a fully functional app
