Current Situation

In the last decade, due to the enormous technological advance, companies and the labor market have undergone profound changes.

With the current COVID-19 pandemic, after the public health battle that we currently face, we will face a disruption of gigantic proportions in the economy, in companies, and in the labor market that will force us to profound changes.

No one can quantify the number of jobs lost and workers in a lay-off situation at the end of this crisis, however, it is unanimous that will assume brutal values.

Therefore, it is essential to guarantee ways to have flexibility and speed in hiring workers that ensure, the efficiency and sustainability of companies and, on the other hand, quick access by the workers to job vacancies that can give them some income, including for seasonal work and with priority for critical sectors.

Our Solution

We present ZikuHR, a platform intended for quick and efficient job matching, to allow a match between rapidly changing jobs supply and demand, including seasonal work and critical sectors like health, agriculture, construction, tourism, and food supply chain. Ensuring a reduction in the selection costs, the validation of the workers' capacities, and the speed in the whole process, setting a completion goal in 48 hours. We intend to ensure that work proposals are submitted by credible entities and that workers' rights, data protection, and compliance with labor rules in each country are respected. Our solution allows during the current crisis that companies in sectors with an additional need for labor can easily and quickly hire workers and that workers who are in a lay-off situation can get some temporary jobs that increase their income.

After the crisis, all the assumptions underlying the creation of our platform remain valid, not only because more and more workers are looking for more flexible work solutions as a way to combine work with family, but also, hiring workers quickly and safely by companies is a permanent necessity.

Technological Stack

For this project we used AngularJS for the development of the webpage, Go for the development of the backend (connected to the frontend through a REST API), and PostgreSQL for the database.

The application stack is deployed on Google Cloud Platform with Docker Compose for containerization and Nginx as a reverse proxy to connect the different services.

Future Directions

ZikuHR is under development. The next steps are the elaboration of a business plan that allows us to quantify in an exact way the financial needs for a subsequent capital raising necessary to hire technicians to accelerate the availability of the platform to users. It is also necessary to do all the work of establishing partnerships and disseminating the platform to potential users.
