Inspiration

I was inspired by the classic XCOM games and the idea of tactical fights on a grid. I’ve always loved that blend of strategy and atmosphere, and I wanted to create something with a similar feel but my own twist on it.

What it does

ZFORCE lets players command a squad of mercenaries on grid-based missions - shop for new weapons, hire new merc and progress in a slightlhy complex story.

How we built it

I built it mainly using Bolt for game logic, ChatGPT for visuals and ideas, and GitHub Copilot to help refine and improve the code.

Challenges I ran into

One of the biggest obstacles was simply the size of the project. It often felt overwhelming, but by breaking everything into smaller chunks and splicing up files, I was able to keep moving forward step by step.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of and what I've learned

I’m mostly proud of the enemy AI. Even though it’s not very complex, it was my first attempt at this kind of system, and it actually works!

What's next for ZFORCE - Tactical Game

More than anything, I’d love to know if people enjoy the story and the mechanics. They may be simple at this stage, but I put a lot of love into making them feel fun and alive. After that - just adding more story, more weapons, more merc.
