ZeroWasteFeast

From Waste to Worth: Feeding People, Fueling Tomorrow

Inspiration

Every day, restaurants waste tons of food. Meanwhile, thousands go hungry. What’s worse, inedible waste clogs landfills. We asked: What if we could feed people and fuel the future at the same time?

What it does

Edible food → shared with NGOs to feed the hungry. Inedible food waste→ converted into biofuel for fuel companies. Real-time app connects restaurants, NGOs, and fuel partners—ensuring zero waste.

How we built it

  • Mobile app + website for restaurants to list surplus.
  • Geolocation alerts for NGOs & volunteers.
  • Food safety tagging system.
  • Waste-to-fuel workflow integrated with fuel partners.

Challenges

  • Ensuring food safety compliance.
  • Coordinating real-time pickups.
  • Convincing restaurants to participate.
  • Designing a dual system: food + fuel.

What we learned

  • Waste isn’t just trash—it’s an opportunity.
  • Volunteers are key to fast redistribution.
  • Fuel companies want consistent, reliable waste supply.
  • Tech + community = real change.

What’s next

  • Scale across more cities.
  • AI predictions for surplus + pickups.
  • CSR + government tie-ups.
  • Expand internationally for hunger + energy sustainability.

Real-World Impact Example

At a corporate event, 50 untouched biryani packets were saved from the trash. ➡ Picked up in 45 minutes, served at a local orphanage. ➡ Leftover spoiled food → biofuel for city transport.

One night: children fed, fuel created, waste avoided. That’s ZeroWasteFeast.
