ZeroPaper – AI-Powered Digital Receipts

Inspiration

Small businesses are still handing out paper receipts, which are wasteful, hard to track, and easy to lose. Meanwhile, customers often miss out on maintaining purchase history or analyzing their expenses. We envisioned ZeroPaper as a smarter alternative—digitally storing receipts, summarizing them with AI, and delivering voice/video-enhanced records—all accessible through a simple QR scan.

What it does

ZeroPaper is a digital receipt ecosystem that empowers:

Shop owners to generate receipts with QR codes and issue them via Bolt.new

Customers to scan and store receipts in their personal vault

Hugging Face LLMs to categorize, summarize, and enable Q&A over receipt data

ElevenLabs to create audio summaries for accessibility

Tavus to generate branded video summaries for receipts

MongoDB Atlas RAG to enable intelligent search over past purchases

Chart.js visualizations to show financial trends and expenses

How we built it

We used Bolt.new as our no-code/low-code foundation and integrated:

Challenges we ran into

Designing secure yet simple business onboarding and verification

Structuring JSON data from scanned receipts for consistent LLM output

Providing natural language search across unstructured financial data using RAG
