Inspiration
As a creator myself, I saw fellow content makers struggle with turning their brand into tangible merch – no design skills, high inventory costs, and fragmented tools to manage sales. I wanted to build something that removes every barrier, letting creators focus on what they do best: creating.
What it does
MerchDesigner AI lets creators input their brand elements (logo, style, colors) to generate 50+ unique merch designs. Users launch a fully branded store, sell globally via print-on-demand, manage orders/customer support, and track profits through intuitive dashboards – all in one seamless experience.
How we built it
We started by mapping core creator pain points, then built a React frontend for intuitive UI, paired with Node.js for backend logic. We integrated AI APIs for design generation, Chart.js for profit analytics, and structured the platform to mirror Western e-commerce workflows creators know and trust.
Challenges we ran into
Balancing AI design variety with brand consistency was tough – we iterated 12+ times to ensure designs stayed true to a creator’s brand while being unique. We also faced hurdles making the print-on-demand integration intuitive, and refining mobile responsiveness for store previews.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We built a platform that turns brand inputs into a fully functional store in minutes, with 50+ AI designs tailored to each creator. The profit dashboard became a fan favorite – clear, visual, and actionable. Every core workflow (design → store → orders → profits) works seamlessly, no extra tools needed.
What we learned
We learned creators prioritize simplicity over complexity – every feature needed to serve a clear purpose, no bloat. We also realized how critical localized e-commerce norms are; aligning the store layout with Western shopping habits made the platform feel familiar and easy to use.
What's next for this project
We’re adding social media integration to let creators promote their store directly from the dashboard, expanding design product types (hoodies, phone cases), and refining the AI to learn from creator feedback for even better design outputs. We also plan to deepen print-on-demand integration to offer more fulfillment locations across Europe and the US.
