Inspiration
Around 30-40% of the food supply ends up as food waste and controlling this is a major economic and global concern. Thousands of people end up starve without having proper food for their daily survival and this poses as a solution in solving this issue.
What it does
It allows restaurants and grocery stores to list food items and products along with their expiry dates and times either for low cost or no cost at all reducing the overall food waste from the community .
How we built it
We used flask framework to build our web app, used mongoDB as the database and python as the core for the whole project along with HTML and CSS for the UI.
Challenges we ran into
Food tracking and Expiry date tracking of food products is quite a challenge and needs at most care from the donator. Monetization in a smaller scale poses as a challenges too. Technical challenges were faced in developing the full fledged approach.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Getting part of the web app completed with minimal prior knowledge along with fresh mindsets and lot of fun.
What we learned
exploring problems that actually solve a need in the world is a quite difficult to come up
