Inspiration
Our team was inspired by our need to work on code projects and our lack of transportation. We wanted an easier way than emailing or handing off USB drives to code collaboratively online. We expanded this idea to a social networking platform that allows developers to collaborate on projects and connect/network with new developers. We provide a Social Developer's Workspace to allow innovation across oceans and continents.
How it works
Zephr is powered on the back-end by Java EE using a MVC architecture for scalability and a greater ease of further development. Users create accounts and projects, invite users to work on their project, be invited to work on other projects, all in real time. Communication is achieved by using Respoke API for Video Chat. We used Windows Azure and to run the demo.
Challenges I ran into
Sleep, Hunger, Bad Hygiene, Graphic Design Challenges, Only one team member knew Java EE
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Finished the product, Survived three days in a basketball gym, Streamlined Design, The team learned Java EE in two weeks
What I learned
Java EE, Wireframes/Designs
What's next for Zephr
To expand the features to better cater to user needs. Implement a File System to save projects and export projects. Then incorporate a cloud complier to compile and detect errors within the web browser workspace.
