ZenRoute

Inspiration

ZenRoute was inspired by the growing need to address the stress and anxiety many people face during their daily commutes. Recognizing that commuting often adds to mental fatigue rather than alleviating it, we envisioned an app that transforms this necessary part of life into an opportunity for mindfulness and calm

What it does

ZenRoute combines real-time stress zone mapping, soothing soundscapes, guided breathing exercises, and AI-powered support to help users navigate their journeys with clarity and peace. Whether on the subway, in traffic, or walking, ZenRoute turns every commute into a therapeutic experience

How we built it

We built ZenRoute using React Native with Expo for cross-platform mobile development, integrating Google Maps for real-time location tracking and stress zone visualization. Supabase powers our backend with real-time database and authentication. We leveraged Bolt AI to rapidly prototype UI components and implement calming animations and AI assistant features.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges was balancing real-time location tracking with battery efficiency and user privacy. Implementing geofencing that is both accurate and respectful of privacy required careful design. Integrating multiple APIs seamlessly while maintaining a smooth, calming user experience also posed technical hurdles

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We successfully created a calming, intuitive UI with soothing animations that users find engaging and supportive. The AI assistant provides personalized guidance, and the app effectively maps stress zones to deliver timely interventions. Our privacy-first approach ensures users feel safe using ZenRoute daily.

What we learned

We learned the importance of designing for both emotional and technical needs—balancing performance, privacy, and user experience. Rapid prototyping with Bolt AI accelerated development, and integrating real-time data streams requires robust backend architecture

What's next for ZenRoute

We plan to expand ZenRoute with more personalized AI-driven insights, social features for community support, and integration with wearable devices for biometric feedback. We aim to make ZenRoute the go-to app for mindful commuting worldwide
