Inspiration

Smartphone and social media addiction, hectic life causes anxiety and stress possibly ending up with burn out. Mindfulness; just sitting and being, focusing on your breathing is a good way to deal with that. It's easier than starting a jogging, swimming kind of exercise habit.

What it does

ZenMatt consists of a sensor equipped mat and a connected app. By sitting on the mat you are calming your mind and charging it. The app keeps track of this, too and updates your virtual energy level. The app also keeps track of your social media usage, which decreases your virtual energy level.

How I built it

Using Arduino, Bluetooth stack, Android sdk and a yoga mat.

Challenges I ran into

We didn't have the proper hardware tools in the hackathon workshop.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We had the idea on Friday, planned it through the evening and actual work just started on Saturday. In a quiet short time we were able to build a demo to communicate the idea.

We also did a survey to validate the problem.

What I learned

Keep it simple and remarkable.
