ZenDesk – Find Your Focus. Simplify Your Browser.

In today’s world of endless tabs, pings, and distractions, staying focused online is harder than ever. That’s why we built ZenDesk, a Chrome extension that turns digital chaos into calm productivity.

ZenDesk automatically detects and closes distracting tabs, saving them to a reading list for later. It summarizes unread emails so you see what truly matters, and it lets you create custom text shortcuts to save time on repetitive typing. With Focus Mode, your workspace stays clean, focused, and efficient.

Built with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and Chrome Extension APIs, ZenDesk syncs settings across devices using Chrome’s local and sync storage. Along the way, we tackled challenges like handling asynchronous tab operations, preventing UI conflicts, and keeping everything running smoothly across multiple tabs—all under hackathon time pressure.

Through this project, we learned how to build real-time browser tools, design intuitive UIs, and collaborate effectively under tight deadlines.

Next, we plan to expand ZenDesk with custom blocklists, scheduled Focus Modes, and AI-powered email prioritization, bringing a smarter, distraction-free experience to every browser.
