Inspiration
Mental health struggles like anxiety, stress, and depression are increasing, especially in regions where access to therapy is limited and language becomes a barrier. We were inspired to build MindEase to provide an AI-powered mental wellness companion that speaks not just English, but also Urdu and Roman Urdu, making mental health support more inclusive and accessible for millions.
What it does
MindEase is a multilingual AI therapy assistant that helps users manage their mental health through: An AI chatbot offering support and emotional guidance Meditation resources in Urdu, English, and Roman Urdu A mood journal for daily reflections Easy language switching for accessibility It’s a calm, friendly space for users who want to feel heard and supported in their language.
How we built it
We used Bolt, new to design and develop the frontend without writing code, taking advantage of its powerful AI-driven UI generation. The app was structured in multiple sections, including a homepage, AI chat, a meditation library, and mood tracking. We deployed the app on Netlify for public access. The multilingual design was carefully planned to reflect content in Urdu, Roman Urdu, and English.
Challenges we ran into
Managing multilingual layout without breaking the UI Ensuring RTL (Right-to-left) compatibility for Urdu Creating an emotional yet clean design for all age groups Making the AI chatbot user-friendly without actual backend logic
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Successfully created a trilingual app that looks clean and professional Made mental wellness approachable in native languages Participated in a global hackathon with no prior coding knowledge Designed and deployed a working prototype independently
What we learned
How to use AI tools like Bol. new for frontend app development The importance of UX in multilingual projects How to creatively express empathy and therapy in UI design Gained confidence to take on tech projects without traditional programming
What's next for MindEase
This was my first time participating in a hackathon, and I had no idea where to start. But I wanted to try, to prove to myself that I can do something meaningful. With the help of AI and guidance, I built MindEase — a small step towards making mental health support accessible in Urdu, Roman Urdu, and English.
Next, I plan to improve this app by:
Adding a real AI chatbot for natural conversations Connecting users with real therapists if needed Making a mobile version for easier access Adding reminders, breathing exercises, and journaling options Sharing the app in schools and communities where people don’t speak English This is just the beginning — I now believe I can keep building and improving.
