Inspiration
As a woman, I have been made aware of this form of cancer all my life, yet I was never made aware of why it occurs, how to diagnose it, or who was more likely to get cancer. Inspired by my own lack of awareness, I decided to create a one-stop destination for all of the information one might require to make themselves aware of Breast Cancer.
What it does
This website aims to make people aware of Breast Cancer, factors linked to increase in cancer probability, its diagnosis, and long-term effects. It also has a section where images show symptoms that help detect cancer.
How we built it
This website was made using HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap.
HTML is used to add basic elements such as information, images, and links. Whereas, CSS is used to design and style a website. Bootstrap helps this cause, by making it easier to design elements.
Challenges we ran into
The first challenge was gathering the information itself. It was of utmost importance to make sure the information stated on the website was verified and true. Due to this cause, an unlikely amount was spent on the research topic itself. Apart from that, the time crunch turned to be a little issue.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
As stated before, the time was a huge worry, since there was a lot of researching, styling, and editing to be done, yet there was very little time. When the project was completed within the time limit was much of a happy moment for me.
What we learned
The trial and run method in making a website, the debugging of elements that present an issue, and in general the whole practice of the code helped in gaining the experience I required. Moreover, I gained knowledge on the topic of Breast Cancer, which I had previously been very uneducated on.
What's next for Zavest
Zavest is currently a website only optimized for laptop or desktop viewing. I aim to make it viewable on other devices in the following weeks, along with which, I also plan to curate more information, in case someone needs to delve deeper for more information.
