Inspiration Agriculture is the backbone of Pakistan's economy, yet farmers struggle with challenges such as crop diseases, limited access to real-time advisory, and inefficiencies in trading agricultural goods. Inspired by Telenor Velocity’s vision to harness technology for impactful solutions, we created Zarai Baseerat: Agricultural Insight to empower farmers with innovative tools, expert support, and data-driven decision-making. This solution leverages AI, IoT, and advanced communication technologies to modernize farming practices and enhance productivity, sustainability, and profitability.
What it does Zarai Baseerat: Agricultural Insight offers a comprehensive suite of tools for farmers and agricultural managers:
AI Crop Disease Detection: A powerful image recognition feature identifies crop diseases from photos and provides treatment recommendations. Marketplace for Agriculture Goods: A user-friendly platform for buying and selling agricultural products, integrated with secure blockchain-based payment methods. Expert Advisory via Audio & Video: Enables real-time consultations with agricultural specialists using high-quality audio and video streaming. Chatbot for Real-Time Support: An NLP-driven chatbot offers 24/7 assistance in multiple languages, catering to farmers across Pakistan. Predictive Analytics: Machine learning models forecast crop yields, market prices, and pest outbreaks, enabling better planning and risk mitigation. IoT-Based Soil & Livestock Monitoring: Devices track soil metrics (moisture, pH, temperature) and cattle health (activity, temperature, disease indicators) to optimize farm operations. How we built it AI and Machine Learning: Developed AI models for disease detection and crop price forecasting using Python and TensorFlow. IoT Devices: Integrated sensors for soil monitoring and wearables for livestock tracking with real-time data transmission. Web and Mobile Development: Built a responsive marketplace and farmer dashboard using ReactJS, Node.js, and React Native for seamless user experience. Audio and Video Streaming: Implemented Twilio and WebRTC for expert advisory services. NLP Chatbot: Designed a multilingual chatbot using Dialogflow for interactive support. Blockchain Payments: Incorporated Ethereum-based smart contracts for secure and transparent transactions. Scalable Architecture: Deployed microservices on AWS for robust performance and scalability. Challenges we ran into Multilingual Support: Ensuring accurate and meaningful NLP responses in diverse languages. Data Scarcity: Building a high-quality dataset for disease detection and market price trends required extensive research.
