Building our first project using AI.

What it does

A website that lets users select a product and get recommended similar products by our custom recommendation model.

How we built it

Frontend with React FastAPI backend AI: CNNs with TensorFlow and Keras

The recommendation system used a pre-trained ResNet model.

Challenges we ran into

Downloading and pre-processing the data, finding a good model, and finding good similarity criteria.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Getting a recommendation system working that recommends very similar products accurately. We are particularly proud of the progress we've made, not only in technical skills but also the friends we made along the way.

What we learned

Teamwork, AI, persistence.

What's next for Zara ... Kind of

Cleaning up the code and building a live camera recommendation system.
