What it does
Zappy maps every happy hour running near you in Austin across 700+ bars and restaurants, filterable by food, drinks and zero-proof, with what's on, what it costs, and how long you've got. It's on the web, iOS and Android.
How I built it
The web app runs on Next.js and TypeScript, with Neon Postgres and Drizzle, Kinde auth, MapLibre maps and Vercel. The native apps use SwiftUI and MapKit on iOS, and Jetpack Compose with Google Maps on Android. RevenueCat handles subscriptions on both.
Keeping 700+ listings current
User-submitted updates go to an AI drafting routine (Claude Code) that proposes listing changes. Each draft is validated, then either applied automatically or queued for a human to review.
What's next
A community tip pool that returns most tips to users as gift cards to local bars and restaurants.
