Inspiration
I wanted to understand how the economy moves in real time, without waiting for delayed reports.
What it does
It collects public job and search trend data, analyzes them, and produces a live composite index of job market health.
How we built it
I used Python and Streamlit for the front end, combined with web scraping, Google Trends API, and statistical modeling.
Challenges we ran into
Data consistency and access limits were difficult — we had to smooth and standardize noisy public data.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I built a working prototype that turns public web data into real-time economic insight.
What we learned
I learned how to combine data engineering, visualization, and statistical logic to extract meaning from messy data.
What's next for ZacharyZhang
I plan to expand the index with more data sources like news sentiment and LinkedIn job posts.
