Inspiration
Vegetarian/Vegan dining options can be difficult to find, especially if you don't live in a big city. Vegetarians also face a lot of discrimination, even if they choose to be vegetarian for their religions, their own humanitarian motives, or just preference. I created this map with the intention of helping people find their veggies more easily, but after some data cleaning, the massive data frame shrunk to a measly 94 restaurants. My map turned into a visualization for how vegetarian dining options are lacking in certain states.
What it does
It's an interactive map! Each spot is a restaurant, and the bigger the spot, the more you have to pay for the food. You can hover over the place, zoom in to see clearer, and there is information about address, city, and price on each spot.
How we built it
I processed data with python and built the map with Bokeh and Seaborn.
Challenges we ran into
I'm a beginner to Python, so I struggled a lot with the map and the visualizations.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The map can move and there are colors that tell you about the locations and the restaurants' size.
What we learned
Always save your project in different places. You don't want to mess up the only version you got.
What's next for Yum Yum Veggie
Maybe some feature engineering to sort restaurants into different cuisines!
