Inspiration
As an avid cook, I often buy ingredients that I have no idea how to use. In many households around the country, meal prep and healthy eating habits are lacking because people don't have a resource to plan their grocery trips.
What it does
Yum is a shopping list creator which helps shoppers build their grocery list while informing them of recipes they can make with their groceries.
How I built it
I built this using HTML, CSS, and Javascript.
Challenges I ran into
Originally, I was planning on using an API to search for recipes containing the ingredients in the shopping list. My first choice was the Yummly API. However, it was discontinued a few months ago. I opted to use the Spoonacular API, which had a similar function. I worked with a mentor to integrate the API, but it was difficult to integrate into a client-based project. So instead, I made a small database of recipes to demonstrate the concept of finding recipes based off ingredients.

Submitting and demoing!
What I learned
This is my first time working with HTML, CSS, Javascript for an actual project. I learned about basics of web design and how to use these three languages.
What's next for Yum
Using Flask and Node.js and hosting it as a website. Making it more user friendly and connecting it with more grocery stores' delivery services.
