Inspiration

I started my YouTube journey in 2018. I tried many things, failed many times, uploaded videos with inconsistent results, and got very low views. Basically, I learned YouTube the hard way.

Later, I understood that making a good video is only half the job. The other half is how you upload it: the title, description, tags, and keywords. A good video can still fail if nobody can find it.

I found that many small YouTubers struggle with the same thing. There are a few tools online, but most are paid and can be expensive for beginners.

I learned YouTube SEO, applied it to my own videos, started getting more consistent views, and even ranked higher on Google Search.

So, as a software engineer, I decided to build a tool that solves this problem for creators like me. That is how YTSEO came into existence.

What it does

YTSEO is a one-place solution for YouTube SEO, helping creators improve their videos, rank higher, and grow with more confidence. The hero tool is the YTSEO Analyzer. Users can paste the URL of an already uploaded YouTube video, and the app fetches its metadata from YouTube. It calculates an SEO score and provides AI-powered suggestions to improve the title, description, tags, keywords, and overall discoverability.

Users can also manually enter a title, description, and tags before publishing a video. This helps them plan and optimize their release before the upload button gets pressed.

YTSEO also includes a Tag Extractor, which extracts tags from YouTube videos to help creators research how similar videos are positioned.

The Title Generator is one of my favorite tools. A user enters a topic, sees current YouTube signals around that topic, and gets five SEO-aware title ideas to choose from. It helps creators move from “What should I title this?” to “Okay, this one actually has a chance.”

The app gives users free signup credits, ways to earn more credits through rewarded ads and bonuses, plus users can buy credit packs and monthly plans for creators who need more analyses.

How we built it

YTSEO is built using React Native and Expo. It is available as an Android app and as a web app.

For the AI layer, I built a separate Spring Boot AI agent powered by Groq. The mobile and web apps send the video details to the agent, which returns SEO-focused suggestions in a fast and useful format.

For the business side, I added credits, rewarded ads, subscriptions, and credit packs using RevenueCat. I also added Supabase authentication and cross-device credit syncing, because nobody wants to lose credits just because they changed phones.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was integrating AI in a way that feels useful instead of just producing random motivational sentences with the word “optimize” everywhere.

I spent time learning how to structure prompts, connect the React Native app with the Spring Boot AI agent, and return suggestions that are actionable for YouTube creators.

Another challenge was implementing paywalls, subscriptions, and credit packs. RevenueCat documentation, ShipKit resources, and tutorial videos helped me make it work.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Within one month of releasing YTSEO on the Play Store, the app reached more than 1,000 downloads without paid promotions and without an existing social media audience.

The app also started earning through ads and reached net profitability. For a product built from my own YouTube frustrations, seeing real creators download and use it has been the best validation.

What we learned

I learned how to build and manage a mobile app and web app together, release updates, work with AI agents, handle real users, and design credit-based monetization.

I also learned that building the feature is only the beginning. Shipping, measuring, listening to users, fixing issues, and improving the experience are where the real work starts.

What's next for YTSEO: YouTube SEO AI Tool

I already have more YouTube SEO tools in the pipeline, including an AI-powered SEO content creator to help users plan stronger videos from the beginning.

The next goal is to make YTSEO a complete creator toolkit. And if everything goes well, I plan to launch on the Apple App Store too, so iOS creators can stop asking when it is coming.
