YouTube barely pays like 10% of its ads revenue to the content creators and the viewers/consumers get more or less nothing monetary out of it. We believe, content creators, who are serving a big community or small, all should have their right into being monetised.
Here comes our app YTBB – YouTube But Better, a platform that intends make Content Creators, rather being assigned value, create their own value. The videos that are created are treated as product, and users who believe in the growth of the channel can invest in it.
We started out by building out the rough plan, The front-end, the back-end, and documentation being the major division of work. We built the front-end using html CSS and React, while the back-end is being managed by the React Player. The whole program has been deployed in Netlify. The algorithm for the assessment of the value has been written in Javascript.
Our challenges include setting up of the video player, implementation of our algorithm for it to process the value of the asset.
Nevertheless, implementation of the Video-platform was an accomplishment for us. It was also all the knowledge that we gained with all the intensity- nerding out the bugs and feeling the vibe of really working; that would drive us in the future.
As for the future development, allowing the investment to be carried in blockchain would be the next big step in the project.
