Our Twitter bot!
Inspiration
We wanted to bring a creative solution to Yellow Pages' ConUHacks challenge.
What it does
Our twitter bot listens to the twitter feed in #askYP and replies to user's shopping inquiries (eg. "I want to buy jackets #askYP") with nearby deals.
How we built it
We built our project in JavaScript using a helper library for Twitter's API as well as Yellow Pages' API for searching merchandise.
Challenges we ran into
Character limit on tweets, parsing tweet for keywords when not in specific format, and determining criteria for sorting our data.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
This being some of our members' first hackathon and attempt at a project of this sort, we are proud of ourselves for stepping up to the challenge and delivering something that (sort of) works :)
What we learned
We learned how to use tools such as node.js and Postman, as well as using the Twitter and Yellow Pages API's to bring our project to life.
What's next for YP Tweet Bot
Many things! We would like to continue development and have our project be the most helpful Twitter bot around for all your shopping needs.
