Youtube Timer

Inspiration

Wondering how long I spend on youtube while doing my work but frustrated at available options not providing functionality to exclude my music playlists from being timed

What it does

Chrome extension that times youtube but stores database of whitelisted playlists to not count in timer

How I built it

Used manifest.json and a couple event pages

Challenges I ran into

not knowing what we are doing going into the second day, sleepiness

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

coded our first larger scale extension with communication between background and foreground pages

What I learned

extensions are harder than you might expect

What's next for Youtube Timer

add functionality to track time spent on projects add other websites to be timed in a similar manner like reddit add other website options to blacklist
