Inspiration

Our inspiration for the "YouTube Algorithm Recommendation Webpage for MBTI" project stemmed from the omnipresence of media in our daily lives. We sought to address the discomfort experienced when encountering content that doesn't align with our preferences. The idea of tailoring media to individual personalities and tendencies sparked our curiosity, leading to the development of this platform.

What it does

This project revolves around a website that leverages the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) to recommend personalized content to users. By completing a personality test, users receive the top 10 videos aligned with their personality traits. This tailored approach enhances user satisfaction, extends viewing time, and benefits content creators and viewers alike.

How we built it

We built this project by integrating the MBTI personality test with the YouTube platform. The website automatically suggests content based on users' personality test results. We gathered and analyzed user personality data, allowing for the personalization of advertising and marketing strategies, ultimately enhancing ad effectiveness.

Challenges we ran into

We've always been interested in web development, but I never took formal web development classes. However, I was able to learn and develop on my own through YouTube tutorials, textbooks in my field, and browsing the web. We did encounter some challenges along the way, particularly with frequent errors that posed a bit of difficulty in the middle of the process. Fortunately, I was able to resolve them, so there weren't any major obstacles.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud to have successfully created a platform that tailors content to individual personality traits. This achievement enhances user satisfaction and offers opportunities for content creators to build stronger communities.

What we learned

If this website becomes popular among users, we can further expand our technology. By collecting and analyzing users' personality information, we can understand user trends based on personality and gather data for future platform improvements. In addition to the MBTI personality test, we can add options for collecting user information such as gender, age, race, and hobbies. This will allow us to accumulate frequently viewed videos among common users and utilize them as big data. As a result, we can make media usage more convenient and utilize the web page based on media information more effectively.
