Inspiration
The idea behind YoursMech came from a common problem many vehicle owners face—finding a trusted mechanic quickly during a vehicle breakdown. Existing solutions are often difficult to use or don't provide an easy way to connect customers with nearby mechanics. I wanted to build a simple platform that makes vehicle repair services more accessible.
What it does
YoursMech is a platform that connects customers with mechanics. Users can browse available services, view mechanic information, and request vehicle repair or maintenance. The project focuses on providing a simple and user-friendly experience for both customers and service providers.
How I built it
I built the project using modern web technologies and cloud services.
- Frontend: React Native
- Backend: Spring Boot (Java)
- Database: MySQL
- APIs: REST APIs
- Version Control: Git & GitHub
- Cloud: AWS (EC2, S3)
- Development Tools: VS Code, Eclipse, Postman
The backend exposes REST APIs for handling user requests, authentication, service listings, and database operations. The frontend communicates with these APIs to display data dynamically.
Challenges I faced
- Designing a scalable backend architecture.
- Connecting the frontend with REST APIs.
- Managing database relationships and CRUD operations.
- Deploying the application and configuring cloud services.
- Debugging API integration and authentication issues.
Each challenge helped me improve my problem-solving and debugging skills.
What I learned
Through this project I learned:
- Building RESTful APIs using Spring Boot.
- Database design and MySQL integration.
- API testing using Postman.
- Git and GitHub workflow.
- Cloud deployment basics using AWS.
- Frontend and backend integration.
- Writing cleaner and more maintainable code.
Future Improvements
- Real-time mechanic tracking using GPS.
- Online payment integration.
- Push notifications.
- AI-powered service recommendations.
- Ratings and reviews.
- Appointment scheduling.
- Chat between customers and mechanics.
