Inspiration
One of our members is currently working at a pharmacy. She noticed that people often forget to take their medications and to ask their doctor for more refills.
What it does
This app reminds users to take their medications, and tracks medication days supply left so that patients are more actively engaged with the process. Additional functionality for vaccinations includes notifications for upcoming recommended vaccines -- mostly to be utilized for multi-shot courses.
How I built it
We used Xcode's framework to build an IOS app using Swift.
Challenges I ran into
We are all completely new to creating an app, so we had to learn throughout the process.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Although we were not able to complete a lot of what we wanted to do, we are glad that we took this opportunity to learn more about app building. We feel that we have created a cohesive prototype of a product that may positively impact healthcare outcomes for patients.
What I learned
Through this process, we had to figure out all the different facets of developing an app: the UI, the functionality, and the pitch, to name a few.
What's next for YourRx
We want to add functionalities such as a vaccine timeline to remind parents to take their children to the doctors as well as themselves, and to create a concrete app.
