Inspiration:

Learning about how to manage financial investments and invest in stocks as a beginner can be challenging. Often times it can be hard to find resources all in one spot that can aid in this process; through the creation of our website, one of our main goals is to tackle that challenge by creating a user-friendly website where users can interact with certain features to gain knowledge and help them find the resources that best fits their needs. Our website strives to educate and empower other people to take control of their financial well-being whether it is from investing to budgeting. Additionally, it aims to be accessible to everyone regardless of their background and promotes inclusive solutions.

How we built:

The website was built using VS Code, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. In terms of the specificity of the code, one of the tools available to users is an interface where users can view the stock trends of a specified company by inputting the date, and time, and selecting a stock tinker. We used an API to retrieve data about the selected stock given at a certain date and time so users can retrieve values regarding the highest stock prices the number of shares traded, etc.

Challenges we ran into:

The biggest challenge we faced was understanding how to use an API and integrate it into our website. We also faced multiple challenges when creating the interactive tools along with the code base for our website.

Accomplishments that we're proud of:

We are proud to have coded our website from scratch using HTML and CSS, while also being able to integrate the individual tools to our website.

What we learned:

We learned how to use jQuery which is a JavaScript library along with how to work with HTML and CSS because this is our first time creating a website from scratch. We also learned to work on Visual Studios Code as our main IDE.

What's Next for Your Wise Piggy:

We want to expand our resources and database and provide a framework for future websites that have the goal of tackling the same solution.
