Inspiration:

The project draws its inspiration from a documentary film that I recently watched, depicting the lives of a group of children with leukemia who have experienced extended hospitalization.

What it does:

Our project endeavors to create a solution tailored for children between the ages of 4-12, specifically those diagnosed with leukemia. Our primary objective is to mitigate their physical and emotional distress. We are dedicated to transforming their negative emotional experiences into positive ones during their prolonged hospital treatment.

How we built it:

We utilized Cinema 4D (C4D) for the development of the virtual character. In addition, we integrated this character into the PICO device through the Unity platform, as demonstrated in the video.

Challenges we ran into:

Importing elements into Unity presented a significant challenge, primarily due to our limited experience in the field of Extended Reality (XR) development. Throughout the implementation process, our team collectively acquired valuable knowledge and expertise.

Accomplishments that we're proud of:

We take pride in the robust visual style that aligns seamlessly with our design objectives. We dedicated extensive effort to ensure clarity and logical coherence within our presentation, enhancing the storytelling aspect. Additionally, we are thrilled with the video demo, marking our inaugural experience with Pico 4 technology.

What we learned:

As a relatively large group, we gained valuable insights into effective collaboration. Our designers and developers worked closely, fostering mutual understanding. Furthermore, we marveled at the capabilities of Pico 4, which we explored and harnessed during the learning process.

What's next for Your Virtual Buddy:

In the future, we aim to enhance the video demo and incorporate additional interaction features into the Unity platform, provided time permits. We also intend to explore the project's business viability, explore potential partnerships, and engage with stakeholders to further advance our vision.
