Inspiration

While teaching students, I noticed they often struggle to turn difficult topics into simple study material. So, I wanted to build a digital study companion that explains topics according to their class level, language, and understanding, helping them learn, revise, and practice anytime.

What it does

Your Study Partner is a full-stack educational web application designed for students across grades 6 through 12 , Dynamic study guide generation , easy to handle , generate quiz, Multi language support ,offline support and many more .

How we built it

Frontend Architecture: Built using React, TypeScript, and Vite for fast bundling and low-latency client rendering.

Styling & Motion: Crafted with Tailwind CSS and motion/react (Framer Motion) for clean navigation, smooth layout shifts, and responsive dark/light theme switching.

Generative AI Pipeline: Directly integrated Google's @google/generative-ai SDK on the client side, orchestrating structured prompts against gemini-2.5-flash with strict JSON schema enforcement.

Database & Cloud Storage: Integrated Google Cloud Firestore for user profile persistence, streak monitoring, and study history.

CI/CD & Deployment: Automated deployment via Git workflows connected directly to Cloudflare Pages for edge-served static asset delivery.

Challenges we ran into

  1. Getting proper AI responses: Sometimes the AI did not return the data in the format we needed. We had to clean and process the responses before showing them in the app.

  2. Moving the app online: Our app worked locally but faced problems when hosted on Cloudflare Pages. We changed how the app connected to Gemini so it could work directly online.

  3. Fixing deployment errors: Some files worked on our local computer but caused errors after deployment because Linux treats file names differently. We had to check and correct the file paths.

  4. Keeping student data safe: Setting up Firebase security was challenging. We created proper rules so students could access their data while preventing unauthorized access.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Delivering a fully functional, zero-latency AI study workspace directly to real students without requiring bulky backend hosting.

Building a reliable fallback engine so the app never throws a blank white screen, even if an API call stumbles or the internet drops out.

The Hinglish language feature: it matches how students in India actually think and discuss concepts casually, bridging the gap between classroom textbooks and actual comprehension.

What we learned

  1. Understanding deployment: Learned how to deploy apps using Cloudflare Pages and manage environment variables properly.

  2. Building reliable apps: Learned that having backup content when AI fails can make the app more reliable for users.

  3. Using Git effectively: Learned the importance of proper Git workflows when working with code, repositories, and deployments.

What's next for Your study Partner

  1. Handwritten Notes: Add a feature that lets students take photos of their notes and automatically turn them into flashcards.

  2. Voice Doubt Solver: Add voice-based questions and explanations for students who prefer learning by listening.

  3. Teacher Dashboard: Create a dashboard where teachers can track student performance, find difficult topics, and give personalized homework.
