Inspiration
If you live in the Hammocks community in Miami, FL, you must know about the corruption within the Hammocks HOA. A board member stole a lot of money from their residents yet still has not been kicked off the board. This project is intended for these communities and HOAs so that the community has better connection and communication with their HOA. It aims to prevent any scandal like this from happening again. It allows the residents (users) to keep the HOA in check and voice their opinions.
What it does
The mockup shows three main features that put all the needs in one website. Two features is what allows the users and HOAs to see what the people want and vote on changes that are needed. The last feature is mainly for the HOA and their fees.
How we built it
I only managed to create design mockups of the website on Figma. For me, this project was mainly to learn about UI/UX principles. I do not know anything about front-end development, but I am very curious about that area. I spent my time reading about the type of elements and norms to follow in designing a web page. This was more of a learning aspect on my side.
What we learned
I mainly learned about the small "rules" about web design. For example, most websites have a key accent color, and that color is integrated everywhere, even if you cannot tell. On my mockup, the main theme is blue, so everything in the mockup is blue. Instead of having black text colors for the titles and such, they are really dark blue.
What's next for Your Community
I hope to continue this project in the future so it can be added to my portfolio. The next step would be to actually implement the mockup by using HTML, CSS, and React.js. I am considering adding another person to this project when I do start coding it. Of course, there are many logistics needed to actually deliver this idea to its full potential such as generating codes for HOAs to give to new residents for the sign-up process.
