As a baby adult (lol), everything feels overwhelming, especially far from family. I had this idea for an app where your strict but sweet AI mom nags you to get stuff done, gives advice, and praises you!

What it does

As a baby adult(lol) everything just feels overwhelming, especially if you’re living far from family or not . Finding time for yourself is tough right? Sometimes you need that little push to get stuff done. Back in the day, your mom was always on your head scolding you about everything while you did stuff under pressure but honestly it was kinda fun!! wasn’t it? Now as an adult you gotta be the one pushing yourself to get things done. Sometimes you procrastinate sometimes you miss your mom’s advice and sometimes you just wish she'd nag you a little. Yeahh adulthood is tough.

So I had this idea for a mobile app where your strict but sweet Asian mom (aka AI mom haha) is there to remind you to get stuff done. I made a website to show my vision of the mobile app didn’t get to make the mobile version yet, but imagine this, you set a reminder and you get a notification like your mom’s scolding you. You can even adjust the “nagging” level, haha. You’ll get random advice or encouragement from her, plus a daily check in for some mom wisdom. Finish a task? You get praised. Don’t do it? Prepare for a scolding. You can also add a grocery list, and mom will give you a receipt based on what you need. Oh, and if you set a wake-up time, you’ll get a notification from mom to kickstart your day!

How we built it

built Your Asian Mom as a full-stack application designed to bring a humorous AI agent with stereotypical Asian mom traits to life. The application was developed using JavaScript, React, Next.js, Firebase, and GROQ API. The AI agent provides Gen Z users with humorous reminders about things like homework, eating fruit, and avoiding procrastination.

To bring the project to life, we used:

React for the frontend, with Next.js to handle server-side rendering and routing. Firebase for real-time database management, user authentication, and hosting. GROQ API to power the AI interactions, allowing the app to generate personalized reminders and tasks in real-time.
