Inspiration

I am a self-taught DJ since highschool. I learned how to DJ with software like Virtual DJ, downloading music from the internet and playing it like the pro djs I watched online. But even after becoming a pro dj myself, I found many situations where a simple easy to use dj mixer for streaming platforms would be the best option for a particular moment: party with friends, trying new music I just found on youtube, teaching someone else to mix on the go, etc. So finally with the help of MeDo I could make this posible.

What it does

YouMix let's you mix songs from Youtube and Spotify like you would in a profesional paid dj software, but only using your preferred internet browser. How? Just copy the URL of your favorite song from Youtube or Spotify to one of the decks, a second one you want to mix in to the second deck, and you are ready to go!

Two decks is not enough? Well, select the 4 deck button and open two extra decks for more complex mixing!

In any of the modes you have dedicaded faders for every deck and a crossfader for quick mixing.

Use numbers keys 1 to 9 and 0 to move through the song or play it live as it were samples.

If you need to know the tempo of the song your are playing, use the manual tap tempo and click following the rhythm. A number will show you the tempo of what you are listening.

How we built it

Using MeDo AI's tool I managed to get the product done. First I gave a prompt asking for a dj mixer for Youtube, explaning the layout of the app and functions like the faders, crossfaders, key to shortcuts, keys to move through decks (so you don't have to do everything just with the mouse), knobs for volume, buttons and colors.

MeDo not only was able to do it, it show me some proposals like the tempo button. I foud it was a pretty good idea to include and added to the final product.

Then, I had many iterations trying different ideas and functions, which MeDo not only was able to try, but explain to me what was happening behind the scenes. A perfect tool for someone with cero knowledge about coding.

Finally I got the app I was looking for thanks to MeDo.

Challenges we ran into

Since I was asking for a service that connect to streaming platforms, and those platforms have limitations and rules on what can be done with what they are streaming, many trials were done with the help of MeDo to get a working app. Everytime something fail because of this limitations, MeDo found a solution. Same with sudden bugs that appeared while coding: MeDo was able to find it by itself and be able to fix it.

MeDo's AI is a very efficient tool for creating apps even for users with no coding experience like me.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm proud to be able to launch a working app not only for me, a dj with experience in the field, but something any casual user can use and enjoy. The app is very direct and easy to use, perfect for anyone.

What we learned

I learned that with an tool like MeDo, we can all finally make reality the apps and services we've been dreaming about.

What's next for YouMix

In future versions I would like to add effects like reverb and filter for more fun mixing. Right now due to the limitatios imposed by the streaming platforms, there is no way to do it, but with the help of MeDo and more trial and error I expect to find a way mo make it posible.
