Inspiration

YouTube-hosted hackathon and YouTube Data API. Wanted to allow uploaders to customize their video pages with their own art.

What it does

Allows custom art, colors, fonts, and icons to be used as UI for youtube videos.

How we built it

We made prototypes and wireframes for the web application. We used HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap for front-end development. We used JavaScript, JQuery, and AJAX for back-end development.

Challenges we ran into

Connecting and retrieving data from the YouTube API. Not enough time. Inexperience with JavaScript and other languages.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Learning web development technologies. At least there's something :)

Finishing the customization feature. Adding Google APIs for image searching.

I worked on the back-end by connecting our web app to the YouTube API via JavaScript as well as creating connectivity between all the pages. I also finalized the front-end for a cohesive appearance.

Katherine Soohoo
I worked on the front-end of the video layout page and created the initial design of the application by prototyping layout and use cases.

Samanvitha Basole
I developed the layouts of the login screen and video page using HTML and CSS. I also worked on making a custom video player. Lastly, I worked with the YouTube API to retrieve user's videos. I hadn't done any web development previously and didn't know HTML, CSS, or Javascript, which was intimidating, but I learned a lot!
