Inspiration
I worked on a similar game when I was 15 and had very limited programming knowledge so I thought it would be fun to return the the concept since I remember it being quite fun!
What it does
Its a video game where you have one input that handles both movement, combat, and sometimes UI actions!
How we built it
Download Godot, open the git repo with Godot, press the play button in the top right corner. https://godotengine.org/download/windows/ https://godotengine.org/download/macos/ https://godotengine.org/download/linux/
Challenges we ran into
Having to learn how to program in a game engine, trying to communicate ideas, and dealing with strange git issues during development. Being unable to add texture at last minute.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
How smooth the movement is, how satisfying it is to play, the enemy variety added to the game, the background.
What we learned
How to use Godot, how to better communicate ideas, and how to troubleshoot git issues.
What's next for You Only Need Space
Working more on the game and hopefully releasing it on the app store and steam as a free game!
