Inspiration
The problem of high gas prices mainly inspired us. Our project can help people better budget for a road trip or compare costs between a road trip or flying.
What it does
We were going to do an app comparing various transportation options and their price. Due to time, we had to shift our idea to a fuel cost calculator that tells you how much money you would need for a road trip, assuming you already have a full gas tank.
How we built it
We used GitHub, Javascript HTML, VScode, CSS, PHP admin, SQL, and Excel to build the website.
Challenges
We faced challenges in implementing data from outside resources and ultimately had to come up with other alternatives. We turned to make a more simplified version for the sake of time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
For the entire group, this was our first hackathon, and we are proud to have come up with a solid idea and a solid project. We hope to use this experience in future hackathons to improve our execution and continue to build more solid projects.
What we learned
We’ve learned about various tools, technology, and software. We also learned how to plan a project and start small to add more things later on.
What's next for You Move Fuel Trip Calculator
Implementing APIs will help calculate cost based on a car’s make, model, and mileage, along with calculating the trip’s distance. We could also make this an app so that it is easily accessible.
