Getting a free Alexa device at Hackcon and needing an excuse to work with it

What it does

Parking info for simulated parking garages, says hello to people, tells Chuck Norris jokes

How I built it

Web server built in Django and MySQL, hosted on Google Cloud; Alexa development kit for the skill

Challenges I ran into

Alexa development kit doesn't have great debugging statements; Google Cloud only works with Django version 2, I started with Django 3 not knowing that, so I had to reset a lot of stuff

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Hosting a web server on the cloud

What I learned

Amazon's Alexa developer interface could use better debug statements

What's next for You Don't Need a License to Drive a Sandwich

Probably a better web interface, add forms for administrators to easily add vehicles, garages, passes, etc.
