Inspiration

Polish netflix film "1670". Which refers to the realities of medieval Poland in a mocking way (though probably not only that).

What it does

It was shown at a friend's birthday party, his 40th birthday, of course. It should bring solace in this sad moment of transition.

How we built it

It was initially created in 1x1, and only later was it converted, hence the artifacts. Unfortunately, there wasn't time to fix everything (lack of time). I generated most of it using old images, either altered or generated entirely with nano-banana (also due to time constraints; if I had more, I would have used seedream). The music was created using stable diffusion and minimax music 1.5. Burt Reynolds' voice was generated in Elevenlabs. In the original version, the film was in Polish with a cloned voice of the main actor from the 1670 film (but people only saw him once at the birthday party I mentioned) - due to a contest and copyright issues, he was replaced by Mr. Reymolds (who fits perfectly). First scene is in veo (i have no idea why).

Challenges we ran into

Nothing but problems. The models still struggle to understand perspective and limitations. Fortunately, the video wasn't long (few shots), and after a few retakes, everything was fine. The jokes were translated automatically, so some of them may have lost their meaning and don't sound as good as they could - some of them are probably local jokes as well.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

It's what I call a quick shot. The fact that it hit (checked twice - people like it) is some kind of medieval fate that dawned on me.

What we learned

I need more time to look at what I'm doing from the outside. Time changes everything.

What's next for You are over 40 now

I liked the format. I'd never made a film before, and this is probably my third and longest. I have a ton of ideas, but AI is still expensive and most of the productions it produces are poor, which I don't like.
