I wanted to tell a story for anyone who has ever scrolled through their phone at night, feeling invisible, or walked through a crowded school hallway feeling completely alone.

What it does

"You Are Not Alone" is a 3-minute, 100% AI-generated short film. It tells a complete narrative arc of a young student battling severe bullying and depression. It follows her from her breaking point—a powerful scene in a bathroom where she no longer recognizes her own reflection—to her courageous decision to post her story online, which in turn sparks a global wave of empathy and connection.

How we built it

This film is a 100% AI-native production.

1. AI Visuals: Every single shot was generated using AI video tools. The process involved meticulous prompt engineering to maintain character consistency (the girl's purple-tinged hair) and to create emotionally specific scenes (a crowded schoolyard, a lonely bedroom, a rooftop view).
2. AI Music & Sound: The narrative part of the film uses atmospheric sound, while the powerful 45-second finale uses an AI-generated song to provide an emotional catharsis.
3. Editing: The clips were assembled and edited in CapCut to precisely match the narrative beats and emotional arc of the story.

Challenges we ran into

The greatest challenge was emotional authenticity. It's easy to make AI create "sad" images, but it's hard to make it convey genuine despair and vulnerability. Getting the AI to generate the subtle pain of being ignored by classmates, or the specific terror of waking up to another day of bullying, took hundreds of iterations.

This is where we intentionally used an AI "artifact" as a powerful storytelling tool. The protagonist's reflection becomes distorted, watery, and broken—this isn't a glitch, this is a visual metaphor for her identity shattering under the weight of the bullying. Using AI's quirks as part of the art is what makes this film special.

I learned that AI is not just a tool for spectacle; it is an incredibly powerful tool for empathy. It can tell quiet, small, human stories that resonate on a universal level.
