Inspiration
As a result of the pandemic, many people have not spent much time outdoors or at the gym. We wanted to help users reach their fitness goals to improve both their physical and mental health.
What it does
Our app asks users a series of questions related to their fitness goals. Then, users are connected with a fitness advisor who can review the information and send the user workout and diet plans.
How we built it
We used Figma to create a layout of the app. Then, we used Android Studio to code the app in Java and XML. We attempted to use Google and Firebase to create user login and store profiles.
Challenges we ran into
We had difficulties figuring out which database to use and how to integrate it with our login page since this is our first Android app. We struggled to get an actually working authentication system that stored user profiles. The time limit was also a massive issue as expected, so we couldn't code as much functionality as we would have liked.
What we learned
We learned a lot about how to design an Android app with Java and how to integrate a database into an app.
What's next for Yoke
We have some functionality to work on and the app that fitness trainers would use to send the plans.
