Inspiration
From Ten Thousand Coffees, few other recruitment and networking websites and a bee hive.
What it does
YOH! is a hub where tech graduates from York University are able to connect with recruiters for potential job opportunities. The graduate not only creates a profile with basic information but part of their personality is showcased as well through questions that we believe shed light into the graduate as a human and not just another resume.
How we built it
After the initial user research and competitive analysis, the low-fidelity wireframes were built by the UX designers. From there the developers were able to create an initial layout for the database and ER diagrams and initial structure of the site's pages. Afterwards, the designers were able to move on to building the high-fidelity wireframes, which made it easier for the developers to style the initial pages and add all necessary beautifications.
Challenges we ran into
Time constraints limited us from completing the site and seeing it as we initially planned and envisioned.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Collaboration of developers with designers was a first for all of us. It was pretty smooth and we were all on the same page.
What we learned
Have fun when participating in a hackathon. The importance of designers and developers working together for the success of the project
What's next for YOH: York Opportunity Hub
Complete missing database connections. Populate the site with data and finally improve on the design of the website so as it is a completely functioning hub.
