✨ Inspiration
As a founder, I always struggled with choosing the right co-founder. Platforms like YC Co-Founder Match were helpful for discovery, but lacked a way to validate compatibility.
I wanted something that could help founders talk through differences before they become dealbreakers. That’s where the idea for YoFounder came from.
💡 What it does
YoFounder is an AI-powered compatibility assessment for startup co-founders. • 66 deep questions based on frameworks from First Round and Gloria Lin • AI analyzes alignment and risk areas • Founders get a shared report + each other’s answers • Designed to spark real conversations before teaming up
🛠️ How I built it
This was a solo project built in 8 days during the Bolt hackathon. I used the Bolt.new platform (no-code + AI-driven generation) and Supabase for backend logic.
I focused on content, UX, testing flows — and let AI handle most of the scaffolding.
🧱 Challenges
• Getting the AI to generate accurate matchmaking logic (not just feel-good output)
• Supabase migrations broke mid-process — I had to fix SQL errors manually via CLI
• No rollback → every small UI tweak could break auth
• First real exposure to Docker, Homebrew, Supabase CLI, and terminal setup 😅
🏆 Accomplishments
• Fully working product in 8 days
• Built completely solo, without writing backend/frontend code manually
• AI-generated assessment logic with real reflection value
• Working invite system
📚 What I learned
• AI tools can help solo founders ship surprisingly fast
• QA is underrated — test coverage matters more than ever
• Asking the right questions changes how people collaborate
• No-code ≠ no complexity — debugging logic still takes critical thinking
🪜 Step by step: the build log
I documented the full 8-day build journey — including wins, bugs, CLI struggles, and late-night debugging — in this Twitter/X thread:
Includes: • Day-by-day breakdown • Real-time decisions and pivots • What it’s like shipping with 160M tokens and no dev team
🔮 What’s next for YoFounder
• ✨ Public matchmaking between strangers (opt-in toggle in profile)
• 💌 Trigger-based email flows
• 💰 Light monetization experiments (premium features or team use)
• 🧪 More testing with early-stage accelerators
And of course — feedback from real humans is always welcome. Try it, match with someone, and let us know what you think 💜
