Inspiration

I and Dawson love to look for some good places and enjoy going to trendy places so used to search via Instagram or Yelp. While we were looking for authentic but not crowded places in order to go chilling, we came up with an idea of looking for places that were once popular but not now. That was the "Yelprizona" which could help us recognize where is popular at a glance using data visualization and one drag of the time range bar.

What it does

It shows the distribution of popular restaurants depends on the yelp data.

How we built it

We scraped data from Yelp and visualized data using a javascript library called D3.js.

Challenges we ran into

Yelp has its massive data in javascript so we had to catch a pattern with the regular expression.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Finally, I found a simpler way to scrape the geolocation information which was the most tricky part we had.

What we learned

We learned how to render a fancy map and regular expression.

What's next for Yelprizona

We are thinking to make it a realtime data-driven web page.
