Inspiration

I am in my final year of college right now but memories of school days still kind of make me nostalgic. From there I got inspired about this little website.

What it does

A communication platform between students and teachers which not only allows you to chat with your favorite people but also allows you to share with them photos of some special events that took place at a certain point of time. Whenever you share a memory with your contact it would send them a notification on their phone in the form of an SMS (done with Twilio). Also since each year, whatever as a student you have learned might be useful to your juniors, hence keeping that in mind I have made a corner where you can share your notes in the community. Anyone can view and download your notes and also like them.

How we built it

I used React, Firebase, MongoDB Atlas, node, express, Twilio and socket.io.

Challenges we ran into

I faced issues with the chat system at first but it worked out in the end.

I am proud of everything !!!

What we learned

I learned how to use Firestore and Firebase storage API.

What's next for Yearbook

Filtering notes based on likes (more popular in each subject), etc...
