💡 Inspiration RevenueCat’s Sub Club videos and podcast taught me a lot about consumer apps, especially how much onboarding matters. I kept seeing quizzes with thirty or forty screens that all looked much the same. I wanted to make one people would actually enjoy exploring

☀️ What Yawn does

Save everyday objects away from your bed. When your alarm rings, get up and photograph the one Yawn picks to stop it. Completed photo missions become stickers in your morning collection.

Onboarding done in a different way The opening questions sit inside one continuous scroll, with objects moving around them, little demonstrations and your name shimmering in rainbow foil. You can scroll back and change your answers.

Your mornings become stickers A sticker drops into an example calendar during onboarding. Later, that collection fills with photo stickers from your own mornings. I like that ordinary things around your home become part of the app’s look.

Hold to begin Hold the final button, watch it fill, then see a sun rise above the clouds. I wanted that moment to feel like your mornings with Yawn were about to begin. The details carry through to Profile, which opens from your avatar, and a membership card with a reflective foil finish.

🛠️ How I built it Swift and SwiftUI, with AlarmKit for system alarms, Vision for photo matching and cutouts, and RevenueCat for Premium. Photos are processed on your device

🧩 Challenges I ran into I also spent plenty of time adjusting the scrolling layers, spacing and animation timing, including reduced motion, larger text and what happens when an animation is interrupted.

✨ What I’m proud of Yawn 1.0 is live on the App Store!! The extension to the deadline happened and luckily I’m most proud of the opening parallax scrolling quiz. You get to try the app’s ideas while setting it up and the answers help make it yours.

📚 What I learned Small details take time. A gesture or animation can work perfectly and still feel wrong. Getting the timing, movement and feedback to feel right was a big part of building Yawn

🌱 What’s next I've already starting working on v1.1 and have started getting feedback on the app, plenty more to come!
